ASSOCIATION of ANGLICAN MUSICIANS RESOLUTION PASSED UNANIMOUSLY AT THE CLOSING BANQUET OF THE 2007 IONA-DURHAM CONFERENCE OF THE ASSOCIATION RESOLVED: that the Association of Anglican Musicians express profound gratitude to Peter, Simon and Adam Baldwin for their meticulous planning of the abundant and imaginative on ground package that has integrated historical Celtic Christianity with opportunities to experience more recent spirituality in striking selection of wisely chosen venues. Their unfailing and unflappable concern for the need of each participant has reflected both the wisdom and expertise of their planning and the genial and engaging personalities that have guided the entire programme. Sent with best wishes of the Association. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- IT ALMOST GOES WITHOUT SAYING THAT THE AAM DURHAM/IONA CONFERENCE AND EVERY ASPECT OF IT WOULD HAVE BEEN IMPOSSIBLE WITHOUT YOU, CHARTER TRAVEL AND YOUR FAMILY. BRYAN MOCK CHRIST CHURCH, GLENDALE -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- PLEASE KNOW HOW DEEPLY GRATEFUL I AM FOR ALL YOUR ASSISTANCE WITH THE RECENT TOUR. I THOUGHT THE ORGANISATION OF THE ENTIRE TRIP WAS EXCELLENT AND I VERY MUCH LOOK FORWARD TO WORKING TOGETHER AGAIN. EVERYTHING FROM THE EXCURSIONS TO THE ASSISTANCE WITH ENTRANCE AT WINDSOR WAS HANDLED WITH A DEFTNESS THAT I GREATLY VALUED AND ENABLED ME TO FOCUS ON THE MUSICAL ASPECTS OF THE TOUR. MEMBERS OF THE CHOIR COMMENTED TO ME PERSONALLY ON HOW WELL RUN THE TOUR WAS AND WHAT A RELIEF THAT WAS TO ME. IAIN QUINN CATHEDRAL of ST JOHN, ALBUQUERQUE. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I don’t even know how to begin to thank you for all of your work in making our trip to Bristol a fantastic experience. People from the choir who have toured with other groups were lavish in their praise for your organizational skills and the side trips you planned for us. The cathedral threw us a lovely reception after Evensong on 29 July and the week was, in a word, transformative. Simon was also absolutely great. You have trained him well! Yes, we have opened a Pandora’s Box as the choir is already talking about the summer, 2009, so if you would begin checking locations for us, that would be wonderful. I hope by this time that water has been restored to your home. Peter, again I extend my deepest gratitude to you for all you did to make this a treasured experience for all of us. Edwin Reike, St Marks, Episcopal Church, San Antonio -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I can't thank you enough for the marvelous way you conducted our Howells tour earlier this month!!! Everything went so smoothly, and everyone seemed perfectly happy, and, from what I hear, enjoyed the trip immensely. Your guidance every step of the way while we were in the planning process, and your careful attention to all of us while we were traveling, went to make the trip the success that it was. You are certainly a professional, and I am so grateful that you took us on! Again, a million thanks for everything, and all the best to you, Simon, and Adam!!
Dr. Jane Gamble -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- You have done a superb job of
accommodating our wishes, planning an Joyce Irwin St Davids Episcopal Church Choir, DeWitt, NY -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Everything went splendidly, as you will see in another e-mail I sent a few days ago. Thank you so much for all you did for us. It’s a wonderful blessing for Christ Church and for me to have your assistance and friendship year after year. I look forward to many years of trips together with you and Simon. Richard Clemmitt, Christ Church, Winnetka, Illinois. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hello, Peter. We cannot believe that a week has elapsed since you and Colin dropped most of our group at Heathrow, ready to return home. We have recovered from jet-lag and have realized that we have not properly thanked you for your efforts on our part. The Choir Tour that you crafted for us was phenomenal. We think of aspects of it every day, with delight and gratitude, and remind one another of special moments. Personally, I am suffering from “Scone Withdrawal”. Oh dear. You did a wonderful job in planning the Itinerary, arranging for the Evensongs and concerts in sacred places, with enough time to rehearse and still time to enjoy some sight-seeing. The little “extras” were particularly delightful—the tour of the Waterford factory, the glorious day at Tavistock, pre-concert supper at the very elegant hotel across from the church at Tavistock, lunch in the carriage house at Kingston Lacy House, tea and bickies with the welcoming Church Ladies at Cullompton (can’t beat that Golgotha for a jaw-dropping moment!), the excursion to Winchester on—of all days!—St. Swithin’s Feast Day, and the delightful tour of the nearby church and hospital at St. Croix, etc., etc. We could go on and on. Your descriptions of what to watch for, and stories of people and places, made us more informed, and also made us laugh. We are so grateful to you—even though, as we all know, “Anything can happen in Ireland”! All the best, Mary and Bryan Conley The Choir of St. Matthew's Episcopal Church, Pacific Palisades, California, U.S.A. Choral Director Mr Tom Neenan. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
As always, Charter Travel’s arrangements and guidance were
first rate. Many thanks to you both. We all enjoyed Simon, and thought he did
well. I imagine he learned from the experience, as I did, being less
experienced. I am glad you were able to join us, not because of Simon, but just
because you are an old and dear friend whom we always delight to be with. As
time goes on, we will feel the same about Simon. Even though you sound and look
alike, you are Peter and Simon is Simon, and you both have your own style and
your own special qualities. St Marks Episcopal Church Choir, Geneva, Illinois, USA. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I am a bit tardy in sending you an e mail of thanks and appreciation for your fine work in arranging our ground transportation for our recent residencies at Ely and St. Albans. From our perspective the tour was most successful on a musical level and on a personal level. Your assistance on all levels throughout our planning and your final schedule, so organized and complete, made the personal day-to-day routine enjoyable and unruffled, and this, in turn, affected our musical performances positively. As I mentioned on the phone, a guide at St. Albans praised your degree of attention and said he had not ever experienced such order and detail in other planners. So, as we are pleased, so you can be also , in the way our tour transpired. Thank you so very much from me and the entire Cathedral Choir to you and your family members who assisted for all that you did to make our tour successful. We would return to you again for another Well, Peter, thanks again for your assistance and particularly for the packet you provided to assist us there. Best wishes for continued success. Most sincerely, Stephen Schaeffer Director of Music and Organist The Cathedral Church of the Advent 2017 Sixth Avenue North Birmingham, AL 35203
All went well on our trip, thanks in great part to your help. Simon did fine, and I was appreciative for his presence. Ely was truly fabulous, and the choir sang exceptionally well the entire week – another testament to your capable handling of logistical matters.
FYI – Greys of Ely did a good job for us. Driver John arrived at the Lamb shortly before 6:00. All were down and luggage was on bus by 6:20, so we headed for the School group, which was also ready for quick loading. We left Ely by 6:30, and were at Heathrow shortly after 8:30.
Hope all is well. I’m hoping the choir will be interested in another trip in 3 or 4 years.
Best to you, Don Horisberger Church of the Holy Spirit, Lake Forest, Illinois, USA
